Heather Lee earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1993. In 1999, she completed her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Denver Technical College. Heather acquired her Pilates certification from the Donna McLean studio and has since been utilizing her expertise in both rehabilitation and studio settings. With over 25 years of experience, she has worked extensively in sports medicine and manual therapy. Currently, Heather works full-time as a Physical Therapist Assistant while also participating in outdoor activities and competing in triathlons during her free time.

How long have you personally been practicing Pilates?

Since 2003.

What inspired you to become a pilates instructor?
I became certified to teach Pilates as part of the Continuing Education benefit at a PT clinic I was working at. When my continuous SIJ/glute pain resolved as a result of learning the exercises I became hooked!
What training have you pursued?

I am Level 1 Certified in Mat, Reformer and Chair.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a Pilates instructor?

When a client is excited at progress they have made, or that they have found a form of exercise that their body can tolerate. 

What is one piece of advice you give your students?

Don’t look at your neighbor!

What is unique about your classes and style of teaching?

I combine the Classic repertoire with my PTA (physical therapist assistant) knowledge and background.

What do you consider unique about the Personal Pilates Plus studio?
The camaraderie between clients and instructors. 
Outside of yoga, what is something else you are passionate about?

All the outdoor Colorado sports and activities – skiing, cycling, hiking, camping, SUP.
